Add Some Holiday Magic to Your Emails: Holiday Email Guide

It’s finally November, which means the holidays are in full swing! We can already smell the pine needles and pumpkin pie. For many businesses, this typically means a hectic season of extended hours and lots of foot traffic. If you’ve been busy all year collecting customer emails through your loyalty program, the holidays are the most wonderful time of year to put those to good use.

Your customers are likely getting plenty of emails this season, so it’s important that your emails cut through the clutter. How do I do this? We’re glad you asked! Here are some factors to consider, followed by some holiday-themed examples.

The Subject Line

The first step is crafting a compelling email subject line. This is the first thing your customers will see in their inbox and unless they’re adept to opening every email from your business, the #1 factor that will convince them to open the email. We encourage you to get creative, show your business’s personality, and get into the holiday spirit! If you’re emailing customers about a particular sale or promotion, be sure to include that in the subject line.

Photo Opp

Humans are driven by imagery and emails are no exception. Your email should contain a high quality and visually compelling image to keep your customer’s attention. Call to Action

The call to action (CTA) is the part of your email that asks your customer to do something. Are you introducing a fall-themed menu that you want them to try? Do you have a big sale going on for Black Friday or Small Business Saturday? Do you want customers to follow you on social media? Are you just emailing to wish customers Happy Holidays? Whatever the action or behavior you want your customer to take, be sure it’s clearly defined in your email.

Sugar & Spice

Email marketing is a great way to build relationships with your customers. In addition to a compelling subject line, sprinkle your email with personality. You can even throw in some holiday puns here and there. Do what feels right for your business and don’t be afraid to have fun!
